Druids Glen
Druid’s Glen was originally the Woodstock Estate which dates back to the early 1600’s. The stunning and varied landscape at Druid’s Glen provides a colourful backdrop to two magnificent golf courses – Druid’s Glen and Druid’s Heath.
Designed by Pat Ruddy and Tom Craddock, the Druid’s Glen course is one of Ireland’s premier championship venues, playing host to the Irish Open from 1996-1999 and also the Seve Trophy in 2002.
The creation of the sensational Druid’s Heath Championship Golf Course which opened in September 2003 and the opening of the Marriott Druid’s Glen Hotel has now placed Druid’s Glen as one of the world’s finest golf resorts – voted in 2005 as European Golf Resort of the Year by the International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO).
Note: The Druid’s Glen name derives from a stone alter of pre-christian worship, which was discovered during the construction of the golf course in a thickly forested area overlooking the present 12th green. |
