Presently approaching completion is Carton’s new luxury four star 165 bedroom hotel, leisure and spa facility which will be carefully integrated with the exceptionally maintained existing mansion. This ambitious project involves the complete restoration of the existing Carton House to the highest standards, alongside the greenfield construction of a modern hotel. The design of the new hotel will incorporate elements of the old property, while clever use of space, natural materials and lighting will evoke a contemporary feel. A unique feature of the new hotel is a service tunnel, which will run underground linking the old house to the new development. This echoes a previous era at Carton House, when servants moved underground from the kitchen to the stables, so as not to be seen. Already acclaimed for its two championship golf courses and venue for the 2006 Irish Open, the hotel will boast 165 rooms including 14 suites, three bars, two restaurants, as well as 14 meeting and event facilities and Spa. Located just 20 kilometres south west of Dublin city centre, the new product additions are certain to secure Carton’s reputation as one of the finest resorts in Europe . Carton is also home to the new Golfing Union of Ireland head quarters, golf museum and golf academy which are currently under construction and scheduled for completion in the New Year.
