In September 2006, the 36th Ryder Cup matches between Europe and the USA were played at The K Club, Co Kildare. This was the first time that the event had been staged in Ireland and was played in a tremendous spirit in front of capacity crowds. The venue, organisation and atmosphere of the event drew special praise from players and commentators alike, with the closing holes of the K Club course providing huge excitement for the “awesome” Irish crowds (see press articles section).
